Strength and Learning Through Horses
At Strength and Learning Through Horses (SLTH), we offer individually tailored equine-assisted therapy, well-being and alternative education programmes for children and young people aged 7 to 25 years old.
Most of our programmes are delivered from our yard in High Barnet on the outskirts of North London. For those young people who can’t come to us, our outreach programme offers an opportunity to change young lives for the better, in settings such as prisons or inpatient units.
We have an ambition to build London’s first purpose-built equine therapy centre for young people.
We have an ever-growing waiting list, so we’re turning young people away because we lack on-site facilities to meet increasing demand.
We need to upgrade our centre so we can:
Have a fully accessible site, including wheelchair accessibility and quiet sensory spaces.
Have the ability to run multiple programmes on-site simultaneously - doubling capacity.
Reduce costs (we will save £15,000 per year due to solar panels and reduced maintenance and repair costs)
Improve horse wellbeing - creating a welfare-led barn and track system allowing the horses to live with Freedom, Forage and Friends and have warm, dry shelter available at all times.
Generate additional income (new training contracts, corporate team building days, as well as offer the site for hire for events/films etc)
Create a community facility to be shared with other community groups (woodland schools, therapists, youth clubs)
