ERIN MCCOY

Erin McCoy is a 19-year-old international dressage rider representing Ireland. She is based on the shores of Lough Neagh in Northern Ireland, where she trains from a private yard with her mother’s horses. Erin currently competes at FEI Young Rider level as well as Small Tour.

Her international partner is Bjornsun, known at home as “Thomas,” a 17hh Dutch Warmblood by Johnson. Thomas previously competed successfully at FEI Junior level and at Small Tour. Erin was given the opportunity to loan Thomas at the beginning of 2023 and went on to purchase him in May 2024, shortly before their international debut.

Together, Erin and Thomas made their first international appearances in 2024, competing at Hickstead CDI, Wellington CDI, and Jardy CDI in France. In 2025, the combination made their FEI Young Rider debut at national level and went on to win the Young Rider National Title in August.

Alongside her dressage career, Erin also competes at a high level in hockey. She plays for Lisnagarvey Hockey Club, one of the most successful women’s hockey clubs in Ireland. Her achievements include winning the McDowell Cup with her school team in 2023, representing Ulster U16s in 2022, and training with the Ulster U17 squad.

Erin has recently begun studying Business Studies at Ulster University Belfast. In the summer of 2024, she was based in Germany at Krüsterhof Hinnemann, where she trained with Irish Olympian Judy Reynolds.
